We make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
a tool for social good
to change lives

We run Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programmes for young people’s physical health, mental health and employability

BJJ is a grappling martial art similar to judo or wrestling. It is growing fast in the UK, and has clear physical and mental health benefits, but can be expensive or seen as intimidating, particularly for disadvantaged young people. Rise aims to change that!

At Rise Community Jiu-Jitsu we run affordable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programmes and activities that build young people’s physical health, mental health and employability.

Young people and adults taking part in Community Jiu Jitsu so far

CEO, youth charity, Hackney:

“None of our young people had tried BJJ before and they all said they would love to have the opportunity to do more sessions.  It’s a fun and interesting way to learn new skills, develop confidence and keep fit.”

Sean, young participant, Hackney:

“It made me feel fit and healthy and made me feel in shape. It made me feel like I belong here. I really like it!”

Will, adult participant, Bristol:

“An incredibly welcoming, fun, and affordable place to come learn Jiu Jitsu. Couldn't recommend highly enough!”

Our Community Programmes

We run affordable BJJ programmes in friendly and familiar environments such as youth clubs and community centres, so that young people can more easily access training. We are particularly focussed in deprived areas in London and Bristol, and also offer coaching for adults.

Our programmes are either totally free or run on a ‘pay-it-forward’ model so we give everyone who wants to a chance to train.

Check out our different Programmes below to find out what’s going on nationwide.

We’ve established a Supporters Club so individuals can contribute towards our youth programmes whilst accessing benefits including discounted training and coaching.

We have three different membership tiers and you can also make a one-off donation to Rise if you prefer.

By joining our Supporters Club you can help more young people access the life-changing benefits of BJJ, and become part of a movement of BJJ for social good.
